PAB - Professional Registration Initiative - Enhanced Professionalism

A long sought-after goal of many individuals in the field of Health and Skincare has been the attainment of professionalism not only in the acquired knowledge and experience, but in the recognition by peers in the business field, in other facets of education, and in other professions.

The Professional Registration Initiative of PAB offers both acknowledgment and recognition for professionals in the field of Health and Skincare.

Professional registration is a way of identifying the true professionals in the field, the ones with the background, training, and on-the-job experience to merit the honour.

A mark of distinction, PAB’s Professional Registration Initiative is a distinctive honour of professional achievement in the Health and Skincare Profession.

The PAB registration initiative acknowledges the essential principles of continuing education, recognizing an individual’s work experiences and other life accomplishments, particularly those areas in Health and Skincare that are most reflective of successful professional attainment.

Applicants must meet the following prerequisites:

Registration Fees

A fee of R500.00 will be charged for the initial evaluation of any application. and an annual fee of R500.00 for Corporate and Affiliate applications. Total cost for Corporates and Affiliates will be R1000.00 in year one and R500.00 from year two onwards. A fee of R500.00 will be charged for initial evaluation and an annual fee of R300.00 for Professional Registration of Individuals. Total cost for Professional Registration of Individuals will be R800.00 in year one and R300.00 from year two onwards.  These fees partially offset the cost of administration, certification and infrastructure of the registration initiative.

 

Renewal Period

In future, the registration will be revised by the PAB Council to require registration renewal every year through the accumulation of points from participation in various professional development activities and leadership roles.

 

History

The requirements and need for the Professional Registration was originally identified by the PAB ETQA Advisory Committee in 2002. In 2002-2006 PAB has been made aware by members of the public and profession of the unprofessional behaviour and damage done to the industry by unqualified individuals. The time to establish an accountable Council has arrived.

The creation of a skilled workforce for the Health and Skincare industry that meets the needs of all South Africans and is aligned to international standards.

 

Mission statement

The PAB endeavors to create an integrated approach to the development and provision of appropriate skilled Health and Skincare practitioners who will render quality services comparable to world-class standards.
